The Space Cases WebRing
Sample Link Blocks

If you're a new member of the Space Cases WebRing, you'll need to add some code (known as a link block) to your home page. A link block is the box at the bottom of your webpage that lets people go from your site to the next site in the ring, and from other sites to your site. Below are three samples of link blocks foa>. e Space Cases WebRing, as well as step by step instructions for setting them up on your page.

Instructions

1. Choose the block that's best for your site. You can see that they come in different sizes. Some have more pictures than others. More pictures are prettier, but they load slower.

2. Click the link underneath the sample to see its HTML code, and copy all of the code on the web page that appears.

3. Go into a text editor like NotePad or WordPad in Windows or SimpleText or TeachText for Macintosh, or go into whatever you use to edit your web pages, and open your disk copy of your home page.

4. Go to the bottom of the page and paste the copied HTML code right before the tags that say </BODY></HTML>

5. Make the following changes to the HTML Code:

   • Replace youraddress@yourisp.com with your e-mail address.

   • Replace Your Name Here with your name or nickname.

   • Replace YourSiteID with your site ID number. Note that there should be FOUR (4) places where you need to insert your site ID number.

   • Optional: If you are using Sample #1, you may want to change the second picture (the one on the right). Find the place in the link block where it says:
     <IMG SRC="/images/scsea2_8.jpg" WIDTH="160" HEIGHT="120">
     and replace the /images/scsea2_8.jpg with a link to your picture.

6. Save your changes.

7. Publish your site back onto your internet service provider.
