New Concept Springs Life Into Space Cases!
Keep Writing Those Letters!

This information reposted with permission from ZaBaGaBe!

Greetings Space Cases!
Many more of you are hearing the dreaded school bells as we near the Labor Day holiday and the end of the summer season -- but it also means that we'll soon be seeing some of our favorite folks back on the screen and learn what they did on their summer vacation..
BILL MUMY and PETER DAVID are hard at work on a BABYLON 5 script even as this is reaching your e-mail boxes. And PETER's first B5 novelization is slated for a January release. And there's a bit of exciting news courtesy of PETER:

"Glenn Hauman of Bibliobytes is going to be in touch with the head of
Nickelodeon publishing about the concept of electronic SC books."

For those of you concerned about your local CBS station carrying KRISTIAN'S new show, THE NEW GHOSTWRITER MYSTERIES, you can check ou tthe address and phone number of the CBS stations on the WWW. Go to:

http://cgi.cbsnews.com/affiliates/

Both SHARK'S SPACE CASES WEBSITE (/) and The UNOFFICIAL KRISTIAN AYRE WEB PAGE (http://www.andromeda5.com/) continue to have frequent updates -- animated GIFs, new WAV files -- all sorts of good things! Be sure to check them out! The next issue of the newsletter will have a new WWW site listing for you to check out. Those of you with SPACE CASES web pages, please be sure to send us information about it!!

There has been a lot of confusion on the message boards and newsgroups about SPACE CASES' status on Nickelodeon. SPACE CASES has NOT been cancelled -- however, Nickelodeon has chosen to not renew the show -- What this all means is that Nickelodeon has chosen to not have any NEW episodes made, but they are continuing to show the original 26 episodes -- and currently have no plans for taking it off the air (of course, this could change at any time) --
The fan letter-writing campaign has succeeded in getting CINAR to indefinitely store the SC sets, costumes, props, etc. AND in getting the SciFi Channel interested in carrying the original SC episodes -- IF they do get to show them and IF there's a stong interest in the show, THEN SciFi will consider doing some tv movies for SPACE CASES -- so the letter-writing needs to continue (and to those members who are groaning because they've heard this all before, we say "I heard that!" <g>) --
Here are the those addresses yet again (how many of you can write these without looking by now??):

Mr. Ian Valentine Mr. Herb Scannell
  Movie Development President
  The SciFi Channel NICKELODEON
1230 Avenue of the Americas 1515 Broadway
New York, NY 10020 New York, NY 10036

  program@scifi.com nicktoyou@aol.com

And, of course, we don't want to forget:

   Ms. Lisa Clancy
   Editor
   Archway/Minstrel Books
   Simon and Schuster
   1230 Avenue of the Americas
   New York, NY 10020

Here's the latest NICK schedule, including the Nick in the Afternoon shows -- remember, the Nick in the Afternoon listing times are APPROXIMATE! Be ready at least 10 minutes before the time and a good 15 minutes after the projected end of an episode just to be sure you'll catch it --

Nick Still Unresponsive to Fans!
Don't Give Up!

This information reposted with permission from ZaBaGaBe!

Greetings Space Cases!
As some of you head back to school already, we'd like to tell you that your some of your favorite performers are heading back to work as well.
BILL MUMY will be returning as Lennier for seven episodes of BABYLON 5 in this the fifth and final season. He and PETER DAVID are slated to co-write an episode ("No, no bears" Peter has said), and Peter is scheduled to write novelizations of the two TNT B5 tv movies. ("In The Beginning..." and "Thirdspace" - Shark)
JEWEL STAITE is on her way to Calgary, Alberta, Canada to shoot an episode of the new series, HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS. We'll let you know more details as we get them.
As you all know, KRISTIAN AYRE has been working hard all summer on THE NEW GHOSTWRITER MYSTERIES -- the shoot wraps this coming week. The show is scheduled to premiere on September 13th at 8:00 AM Eastern on CBS stations, but you have to check with your local affiliate to see if and when they will carry it. KIRO in Seattle, WA is still deciding about the show, WTVH in Syracuse, NY will be carrying it at 8 AM and it will air in the Las Vegas area at 7 AM on Sundays.
For those of you interested in writing to BECKY HERBST, you can send her fan mail at:

         Rebecca Herbst
         General Hospital
         4151 Prospect Ave.
         Television Center
         Los Angeles, CA 90027

For those of you concerned that the cast won't be available to do any SPACE CASES movies SCIFI may develop, PETER DAVID reminds you to look at the cast of ALIEN NATION. They all moved on to other projects, but were able to work on the tv movies as well. So don't let this make you give up on SPACE CASES!!
Both SHARK'S SPACE CASES WEBSITE (/) and The UNOFFICIAL KRISTIAN AYRE WEB PAGE (http://www.andromeda5.com/) have recently had big updates! Be sure to check them out! Congratulations to both Shark and Lisa for all the awards they've accumulated!!
NICKELODEON is still toying with the SPACE CASES fans. They have yet to deal with the SCIFI CHANNEL and seem to be hoping it will all just quietly go away. Well, they don't know just how dedicated this fandom is! Perhaps if we were to try and get the word out to some other outlets just what HAS happened with the show. How, despite what seems like NICKELODEON's best efforts to kill interest in it, the fans have rallied and gotten CINAR to continue to store the sets, and have SCIFI interested in obtaining the show. Let's tell TV Guide about it...STARLOG magazine...your local newspaper and TV stations...anyone you can think of that might be interested in the story of some very dedicated fans -- and you folks are the best! And, as always, we need to keep flooding the NICK offices with pro-SPACE CASES mail. On AOL, the SciFi Realm SC board is very active and even non-club members are posting about the show on the NICKELODEON Programming Suggestions board, asking for more shows and the return of the SC message board!
ZaBaGaBe!! gets new members every week (and we lose some to changes of e-mail address -- DON'T FORGET TO LET US KNOW IF YOUR ADDRESS CHANGES!), and there are new SC sites turning up on the WWW all the time (we'll hopefully have a new list of active sites for you soon). So, once again, let SciFi know we're still counting on them and let NICK know we want to see the show in BOTH places! Here are the addresses again:

Mr. Ian Valentine Mr. Herb Scannell
  Movie Development President
  The SciFi Channel NICKELODEON
1230 Avenue of the Americas 1515 Broadway
New York, NY 10020 New York, NY 10036

Space Cases running
Hot and Cold!

This information reposted with permission from ZaBaGaBe!

Greetings Space Cases!
Well, it's August and the weather is crazy across the States and Canada -- record heat in some areas and record cold -- and things are hot and cold in the world of SPACE CASES, too.
On the hot side, the SPACE CASES cast and crew, as well as the ZaBaGaBe!! members, are keeping busy. Paul Boretski is even busier than we reported in the last update! The series he's shooting in Vancouver is called "COLD SQUAD" -- it's about a small squad of Vancouver Police setup to tackle old, unsolved murder cases through the use of modern technology, such as DNA, and so on. Paul's character is named Nick Gallagher. He's a former Royal Canadian Mounted Police undercover narcotics agent, who is now part of the Homicide division of the Vancouver Police, Department. The character is based on one of the show's writers/producers who used to be with the R.C.M.P narcotics squad (thirty years on the job). Paul says the man has great stories to tell. We'll keep an eye out for more information and to see if it will be airing in the States. Congratulations, Paul!
Hope you Becky Herbst fans have had a chance to catch her in her new role on ABC's GENERAL HOSPITAL -- she's not playing the nicest of people, is she?
We heard from Scott Ayre (Kristian Ayre's brot705) that the CBS affiliate in Seattle, KIRO, is NOT planning to carry "The New Ghostwriter Mysteries" -- this means that, not only won't the fans in that area be able to enjoy the show, Kristian and his family, up in Vancouver, will miss it as well. We'll be making tapes for them of it, but it would be nice if you all could see it as it airs. So, those of you in the area, PLEASE contact the KIRO programming department and let them know how very much you'd like to see them carry "Ghostwriter"! Here's the address (courtesy of Rossierox):

       KIRO TV
       2807 Third Ave.
       Seattle, WA 98121

You should also check with your local CBS affiliate to see if they will be carrying the show and when they will air it -- it is scheduled to debut on Saturday, September 13th at 8:00 AM Eastern.
Peter David is back from the convention in Dallas and is heading up to a Boston area convention this weekend -- we're told Bill and Peter are going to be working on a script for the final season of Babylon 5 and that Peter will be writing the novelization of at least one of the TV movies for the series.
For those of you who didn't get to Dallas and meet Peter at Stellar Occasion 4 this past weekend , check out Shark's convention report at his BRAND NEW WEBSITE ADDRESS!! Yup, Shark's gotten a new location, so check it out at:

Now, on the cold side -- NICKELODEON continues to drag it's heels about SPACE CASES and the SciFi Channel -- we know we sound like Thelma after one of her self-repair sessions, but we need MORE letters! We're over 375 members now and if each and every one of you writes at least one letter to Nickelodeon and one letter to SciFi this weekend, just IMAGINE what it will look like when that mail starts arriving at the network officer! Again, let SciFi know we're still counting on them and let NICK know we want to see the show in BOTH places! Here are the addresses again:

Mr. Ian Valentine Mr. Herb Scannell
  Movie Development President
  The SciFi Channel NICKELODEON
1230 Avenue of the Americas 1515 Broadway
New York, NY 10020 New York, NY 10036

  program@scifi.com nicktoyou@aol.com

Sci-Fi Interest Waning!
Keep Sending Those Letters!

This information reposted with permission from ZaBaGaBe!

Hey there Space Cases!
Time for another of those weekly updates! We hope you all got Issue #6 of ZaBaGaBe!! and are enjoying it -- the next issue will have Part Two of the interview with Peter David and we're now collecting questions for Bill Mumy, who's agreed to give us a bit of time from his very busy schedule.

Hope all of you fans in the Dallas area will get to see Peter at Stellar Occasion 4 this weekend -- write a con report for us if you do go! (you can check for details at Shark's SC site: / )

NICKELODEON **still** hasn't come to terms with the SciFi Channel about SPACE CASES and SciFi's interest is waning because of the delays -- we really need to boost the show for them. So please keep writing those letters -- let SciFi know we're still counting on them and let NICK know we want to see the show in BOTH places! Here are the addresses again:

Mr. Ian Valentine Mr. Herb Scannell
  Movie Development President
  The SciFi Channel NICKELODEON
1230 Avenue of the Americas 1515 Broadway
New York, NY 10020 New York, NY 10036

  program@scifi.com

And don't forget to write to:

   Ms. Lisa Clancy
   Editor
   Archway/Minstrel Books
   Simon and Schuster
   1230 Avenue of the Americas
   New York, NY 10020

   **AND** her e-mail address: lisa_clancy@prenhall.com

Remind Lisa Clancy we REALLY want the SC books! :)

For those of you on AOL, you probably already know that NICK has taken down the SPACE CASES message board. We checked with a contact there and they were told to archive the board to make room for other shows because there would be no new SC episodes. However, the Clarissa and the Pete and Pete boards remain in place. So, those of you on AOL can send e-mail (yes, e-mail to NICK! They're supposed to be reading and responding to this new address) to NICKTOYOU and you can post on the Programming Suggestions board that you want the SC board back. Also, you can go to keyword Fictional Realm. Then choose Science Fiction, then Message Boards and look for the Space Cases board under Current Television Shows. A bit complicated at first, but you can put the SF boards into your Favorite Places when you get there. Those of you not on AOL might also want to mention the change of air times and lack of advertizing in your letters.

Here is the updated NICK schedule, including the Nick in the Afternoon shows -- remember, the Nick in the Afternoon listing times are APPROXIMATE! Be ready at least 10 minutes before the time and a good 15 minutes after the projected end of an ep just to be sure you'll catch it --

Sun. Aug. 3 Nowhere Man 1:30 PM Eastern
Sun. Aug. 10 New Places, New Faces 1:30 PM Eastern
Fri. Aug. 15 Both Sides Now approx. 3:20 PM Eastern
Sun. Aug. 17 The Sporting Kind 1:30 PM Eastern
Sun. Aug. 24 Long Distance Calls 1:30 PM Eastern
Wed. Aug. 27 Break on Through to the Other Side approx. 3:20 PM Eastern
Sun. Aug. 31 Truth Hurts 1:30 PM Eastern

ATTENTION: All you Becky Herbst fans and soap opera fans! Becky will make her debut on GENERAL HOSPITAL tomorrow, August 1st, from 3 - 4 PM Eastern on ABC -- NOT on the 8th as previously reported!!

Paul Boretski is a very busy guy these days! Not only has he been working on GENE RODDENBERRY'S EARTH: FINAL CONFLICT, he's also filming a cop show out in Vancouver!! Again, we'll give you more details as we learn them.

Also, you can catch Kristian's second episode of THE ODYSSEY again in August:

Fri. Aug. 29 Tick Tock (SciFi Channel) 5:58 PM Eastern
