Attention all Space Cases --
Here we are, in the middle of July and SPACE CASES seems to be picking up
momentum as far as the fans go. We're up to 375 members in the club, with new
members nearly every day, the SPACE CASES boards on AOL are more active than
they've been for a long while, new websites and clubs are cropping up nearly
every week, and there's even been mention of the show in a couple of
entertaiment-related websites/mailing lists. As you all know, CINAR has
agreed to keep the sets, costumes and such in storage, and the SciFi Channel
has submitted their bid for the current episodes. So, where does that leave
us and the campaign to save the show? How do you keep generating your
enthusiasm for writing even more letters for the show? Well, we have a little
bit of motivation for you: Nickelodeon has decided to cut back the number of
times they show SPACE CASES. That's right, for whatever reason, despite the
continuing interest in the show, Nickelodeon will no longer be airing SC on
Sundays at 5:30 PM Eastern -- instead, they will air TINY TOONS in that
timeslot. And, as you will see at the end of this update, they are going back
to showing mostly second season episodes, or repeating the first season ones
they've recently aired. So now you all have something more to write about.
Show NICK how very wrong they are to dismiss the show. Prove to them you all
ARE still watching it and do still care. Let NICK know how disappointed you
are that they've cut the schedule back AND aren't showing the rest of season
one. And don't forget to let SciFi know how much you want them to pick up the
show so you CAN see all the episodes, in order, as you know SciFi will air
them. It's been a long, tough campaign and you are all doing splendidly --
keep up the good work. And remember, if everyone in the club writes just one
piece of mail....talk about full mail sacks!! Here are the addresses again:
Mr. Ian Valentine Mr. Herb Scannell
Movie Development President
The SciFi Channel NICKELODEON
1230 Avenue of the Americas 1515 Broadway

Tell her what you've heard about SciFi wanting to pick up SC and how much
you'd LOVE to see those books! :)
We have heard some exciting news from Paul Boretski! He's landed the
recurring role of "Ed Johnson", friend to male lead "William Boone", in the
new show, GENE RODDENBERRY'S EARTH:FINAL CONFLICT, which is currently filming
in Canada for syndicated release in the US this fall. The show's projected
premiere is the week of October 6th. We'll let you know further details as we
get them, of course. (Thanks to MaryMorris for the scoop on Paul landing the
role!)
Peter's next two Star Trek: The New Frontier books are now available at
most bookstores. Track them down and see just how many SPACE CASES references
you can find in them! :) And, if you happen to be in the Baltimore area this
weekend, stop into the Shore Leave convention and say "hi" to Peter -- he's
one of the convention guests.
"Gizbot Follies", a SPACE CASES print fanzine, has been getting terrific
feedback from the club, and would still like more submissions! If you're
interested in submitting something, E-mail either of the following addresses
jsmorris@inlink.com
-or-
MaryMorris@aol.com
for submission guidelines.
As promised, here is the current schedule for Space Cases for the remainder
of July, as well as through August. We do not have any further information
about any Nick in the Afternoon appearances past the one next Thursday, but
we will let you know as soon as we hear.

Deadline For Set Storage Extended!
Keep Writing Those Letters!
This information reposted with permission from ZaBaGaBe!
Greetings Space Cases!!
We've got some good news for you all! It appears that all is not lost yet.
The deadline for set storage has been extended, so the sets are safe and
sound. Now is the time to renew your efforts and keep writing (you just
*knew* we were going to say that, didn't you?? <g>) We've got to convince
NICKELODEON that it would be good to deal with The SciFi Channel. Let Mr.
Scannell know how much you'd like to see SPACE CASES shared with both
networks, creating an even bigger audience. And let Mr. Valentine know how
worthwhile it would be for his network to fight for SC. For those of you who
are new to us, welcome and here are the addresses:

Kristian is wore lg hard in Toronto on The New Ghostwriter Mysteries. The
show, part of the CBS network Saturday morning lineup this fall, is set to
premiere on Saturday, September 13th, at 8 AM Eastern. HOWEVER, the CBS
affiliates have the option of rescheduling and/or not carrying any or all of
the Saturday shows, so check with the Programming Director of your local CBS
station.
Peter's next two Star Trek: The New Frontier books should be available this
week, hopefully, you all can get them from your bookstore. If they don't have
them, they can order them for you. Books One and Two are readily available.
"Gizbot Follies", a print fanzine, is still seeking submissions! If you're
interested in submitting, E-mail either of the following addresses -

First Season episodes continue on NICKELODEON, now occasionally mixed with
Second Season eps. Here's the latest schedule (subject to change, as always):

Sun. Jul. 6 Who Goes Where? 5:30 PM Eastern
Sun. Jul. 13 Prisoner of Luff 1:30 PM Eastern

differences in characters from the later episodes (and, you'll notice Radu
isn't wearing his gloves)
And, you can catch Jewel's second appearance on THE ODYSSEY, in the
episode, The Prophecy, on the SciFi Channel in July.
Fri. Jul. 18 6:00 PM Eastern

Greetings Space Cases!!
Happy Summer to you all! Hope you've all checked out the exclusive
behind-the-scenes pictures on the X-fficial Space Cases website
(/), and seen some of the great work done on a lot
of the other fan websites!
Once again, we need to keep up the enthusiasm and keep writing! We've got to
keep trying to convince NICKELODEON to deal with The SciFi Channel -- remind
Mr. Scannell that having it air on SciFi at a different time can only
increase interest in the show on his network, because the new fans will want
to catch the episodes over and over again.
