Space Cases Update and Schedule
This information reposted with permission from ZaBaGaBe!
Greetings Space Casers!
We'd like to apologize for the lack of an update last week -- we really
needed to be able to stop the space-time continuum to get it done sometimes
and just don't know how to do that (we could really use the latest in
Lumanian technology!)
JEWEL STAITE was just called back to make a return appearance on HONEY, I
SHRUNK THE KIDS as the character, Tiara, the school's reigning popularity
queen. JEWEL heads back to Calgary later this coming week. As soon as we can
find the air dates of the her episodes, we'll let you know.
Speaking of episodes, this is week #3 of THE NEW GHOSTWRITER MYSTERIES.
The premiere episode of KRISTIAN'S series, "Losing Bet", drew mixed reviews,
but the second episode, "For Art's Sake" was well-liked. This week is
"Flagrant Foul", involving plagerism and blackmail. Look for the show on your
local CBS network. The network air time is 8 AM Eastern on Saturdays. You can
also check out the GHOSTWRITER information on the CBS website:
http://www.cbs.com/cbskids/ghost.html
(Also, check the Ghostwriter website at
http://www.newghostwriter.com/
-Shark)
And as mentioned last time, the new issue of NICKELODEON Magazine asks
Kristian the question "What was your favorite Hallowe'en costume?". Check out
page 7 to find out his reply.
PETER DAVID will be attending "Farpoint," a convention in Maryland, the
weekend of October 10-12. His daughter Shana (Pezu in "A Friend in Need")
will be with attending with her dad. Be sure to say "Hi" to both of them.
BILL MUMY recently completed a lengthy interview for TV GUIDE ONLINE.
Watch for it at:
http://www.tvguide.com/sci-fi/
Don't forget to look for BARNES AND BARNES' second album, SPAZCHOW (with 13
bonus tracks and extensive liner notes written by BILL) coming out on cd on
Oct. 4th. Contact Oglio Records (1-800-COOL-CDS) to order it, or check with
your local music store.
Recently, several folks have mentioned discovering the Space Cases
information at:
http://www.familychannel.ca/kits/index.shtml
and have mistaken it for the US cable network, THE FAMILY CHANNEL (originally
known as Christian Broadcasting Network). Unfortunately for those of us in
the States, this is NOT the case -- this is the Canadian FAMILY CHANNEL
premium cable network, and is the only outlet for SPACE CASES in Canada right
now. The exclusive venue for SPACE CASES in the US is still NICKELODEON. They
continue to hold the rights to the show and are still not seriously
considering the offer from the SciFi Channel.
Which brings us to our never-ending plea for more letters. This time,
we're primarily directing our cause to all of the new members we're welcoming
every week. Despite the fact that SC has been out of production for months,
it's popularity continues to grow and new people join us all the time. So we
will once again ask that everyone write at least one letter to NICK and SCIFI
a week. This would put 380+ letters on their respective desks every single
week. The more polite, hand-written letters the better. Here are the contact
addresses. PLEASE do write!

As for the fan club news, we will give you three reminders: We still NEED
your questions for BILL MUMY and PAIGE CHRISTINA and your information on
those SPACE CASES websites you all have created for the next issue of the
newsletter.
Secondly, please contact Mary Morris about doing artwork for GIZBOT
FOLLIES, the SC fanzine. Please drop her a note at MaryMorris@aol.com.
Lastly, PLEASE DO NOT send any chain letters or other junk mail to the
ZaBaGaBe staff. These things are all frauds and just waste e-mailbox space
that could be used for your letters and questions. Also, we each receive
SEVERAL copies of these things, so, if you even consider sending us one,
remember, we've already seen it at least a dozen times, so PLEASE do NOT send
it!
NICKELODEON continues to air reruns of SPACE CASES, and has included it in
it's "NICK in the Afternoon" block once again. Check out the schedule below:
Sun. Sept.28 Trouble with Doubles 1:30 PM Eastern
Thur. Oct. 2 All You Can Eaty *approx. 3:20 PM Eastern
Sun. Oct. 5 The Impossible Dram 1:30 PM Eastern
Sun. Oct. 12 A Friend in Need 1:30 PM Eastern
Sun. Oct. 26 Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Court 1:30 PM Eastern
* Please note that this timeslot if very tentative and you should be ready to
watch/tape the episode at 3 PM as it MAY lead off the NITA program block.

TV Premiere Week Is Here, Bringing
Many New Things To Watch!
This information reposted with permission from ZaBaGaBe!
Hi fellow Space Cases!
Here we are, heading into TV premiere week and being bombarded with flashy
images of new shows all over. And the new show of interest to most of us is
THE NEW GHOSTWRITER MYSTERIES, starring KRISTIAN AYRE as Henry "Strick"
Strickland. It premieres this Saturday 8 AM Eastern on the CBS network. Be
sure to check your local TV listing to the actual time in your area because
not all stations are airing it at the network time.
For those of you who can't wait until Saturday morning to learn about the
show, there are several things you can do. First, check out THE UNOFFICIAL
KRISTIAN AYRE WEB PAGE (http://www.andromeda5.com/).
Lisa will have all the
GHOSTWRITER information set up sometime on Friday. You can also check out the
CHILDREN'S TELEVISION WORKSHOP official site for some other nifty stuff
(http://www.ctw.org/ghostwriter).
The new issue of DISNEY ADVENTURES Magazine (due on the newsstands on
Sept. 16th) has an tiny article on the show and a picture on the bottom left
corner of pg. 30 (thanks Starr2002 for that info). There's also a picture of
Kristian in the newest NICKELODEON Magazine in the article about Hallowe'en.
They ask him what his favorite Hallowe'en costume is, but you'll have to wait
until our subscription copy arrives for that answer -- or until you find your
own copy of it (thanks to PXAngelX for the info).
Also premiering soon will be HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS (syndicated, Friday,
Sept. 26). Watch for the episode, "Honey, I Know What You're Thinking", in
which JEWEL STAITE guest-stars in the role of Tiara. And you can see what
PAIGE CHRISTINA'S brother, BRANDON, looks like by watching BREAKER HIGH (UPN,
weekdays at 4 PM Eastern, Sundays at 10 AM Easter, starting Monday, Sept. 15)
and looking for his recurring role as Max.
Finally, one of PAUL BORETSKI'S shows, GENE RODDENBERRY'S EARTH: FINAL
CONFLICT, debuts in syndication the week of Oct. 6th. And who says there's
nothing to watch on TV anymore??
Heard from Elizabeth, BECKY HERBST'S character on GENERAL HOSPITAL
(ABC,weekdays 3 PM Eastern):
"What planet are *you* from?"
PETER DAVID and BILL MUMY have completed their script for BABYLON 5 and the
cast and crew of B5 should have it by the middle of next week. BILL will be
at a photo shoot for TV GUIDE Magazine on Wednesday with the original LOST IN
SPACE cast. BARNES AND BARNES' second album, SPAZCHOW (with 13 bonus tracks
and extensive liner notes written by BILL) comes out on cd on Oct. 4. Contact
Oglio Records (1-800-COOL-CDS) to order it, or check with your local music
store. If you're interested in more information about BARNES AND BARNES'
efforts, check out http://www.inetworld.net/platypus/barnes/.
A NEW album is in the
works! You can also find a terrific two-part interview with BILL (part one
from 1992 and part two from 1997) at Antimatter Magazine online at:
http://www.mich.com/~antimatr/mumy.html
http://www.mich.com/~antimatr/mumy2.html
Don't forget, PETER will be appearing at DefCon 4 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the
weekend of September 19. Be sure to say "hi" to him if you're there. Tell
him you're one of Bova's friends.
Lastly, PLEASE DO NOT send any chain letters, "pleas for help" or other
junk mail to the ZaBaGaBe staff. These things are all frauds and just waste
e-mailbox space that could be used for your letters and questions. Also, we
each receive SEVERAL copies of these things, so, if you even consider sending
us one, remember, we've already seen it at least a dozen times, so PLEASE do
NOT send it!
Unfortunately, nothing appears to be happening on the "Save SPACE CASES"
front. NICKELODEON has completely stymied THE SCIFI CHANNEL'S efforts to
obtain the show. NICK is also still in a position to make TV movies if they
want to, but don't seem to have that desire. We know how frustrating this is
for you all and how tired you get of hearing us ask you to keep writing
letters, but this sort of thing takes quite a bit of time to sink into the
minds of the Powers-That-Be. It is your loyalty to the show and the energy
you've put into it that have gotten us this far. Keep up the good work! And
welcome our newest members into the fray and cheer them on in their efforts
for the show. We're asking you all again to write at least one letter to NICK
and SCIFI a week. This would put 380+ letters on their respective desks each
week. The more letters written the better. Here are the contact addresses.
PLEASE do write again! And encourage your friends to write, too.
