Before every new show is put on television, the creators have to come up with guidelines. A list of goals, people, places, and things that the show will revolve around.

So before any episode was ever filmed, Bill Mumy and Peter David sat down and wrote the Space Cases Bible. With this, they sold the idea, and the show went into production.
